New Tools for 2007

Three new printers have been added to the studio:

A 60” wide HP 5500 with increased color gamut. You can now do canvases that
are 54” on the narrow side with 6” left over for gallery wrap.

Epson’s new 3800 printer with improved screening,

Epson 7800 modified with Cone Piezo inks for extreme quality black and white
printing with absolutely no metamerism.

New software:

Hardware is only part of the equipment. We are now using a twelve-channel
color profiler from Monaco with Ergosoft’s Studioprint RIP to drive all of
the printers.

New Spray Room:

HVLP (high volume, low pressure) spraying is the best way to apply fixative
to paper and varnish to canvas. We have added a new spray room with all the
necessary hoods, masks and safety equipment. (We do not use strong solvents
but even water-based varnish should not be inhaled.)

New Digital Scanning:

We have upgraded to the new, top-of-the-line BetterLight scanning back with
a 1,100 MB sensor. Almost everything about the copy set-up is new and
improved allowing the production of super-even, smooth scans of art with
more fidelity, detail and resolution than ever before possible.

New Lighting:

We have modified our Northlight CID lights to emit even less heat and
infrared radiation for cleaner scans.

Cameras and Lenses:

Three new Nikon DSLR cameras and lenses. One DSLR has been modified with
internal filters for special spectral response.

Two new Rodenstock APO lenses for the 4x5 cameras: digital scanning backs
are sharper than film! Lens flaws that are invisible to film are revealed in
digital files so both film and digital photography are benefiting from new
digital copy lenses.
